HERMON, Maine — All five of the residents seeking Town Council and school board seats in local elections on Tuesday, June 14, are running unopposed, Town Clerk Ruth Nickerson said Monday.
Timothy McCluskey, who currently is Town Council chairman, is terming out and is not eligible for re-election to that body at this time. Also not seeking re-election are council members Alden Brown and William Scott, whose terms also are expiring.
Running for the three council seats are school committee chairman John Snyer, who will term out of his current seat at the end of June, and residents Jeanne Jacques and G. Stephen Watson, Nickerson said.
Also to be filled on Election Day are two school committee posts, namely those held by Snyer and Anthony Reynolds. Reynolds is seeking another term. Resident Anne Smith is running for the other opening.
The polls will be open on Election Day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hermon Elementary School gym. The annual town budget meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in the Hermon High School auditorium.
