BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brunswick police on Wednesday arrested two Brunswick men suspected of stabbing a 39-year-old Ohio man with a steak knife on Sunday afternoon.
Robert W. McKenney, 43, was arrested at a Pleasant Street residence without incident at 9:27 a.m., according to a release from Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan.
Later on Wednesday, Wendall D. Casler, 38, was arrested by Portland police after Brunswick detectives received information on his whereabouts, Hagan said.
On Monday, police identified McKenney and Casler as suspects in the Sunday afternoon stabbing. Officers went to the 7-Eleven parking lot on Maine Street and found the victim with stab wounds on his arm and chest. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, and since has been released, Hagan said Wednesday.
Brunswick police executed a search warrant at 19 Market Lane and recovered “items of evidentiary value,” and the weapon used in the assault was found at a separate location, Hagan said at the time.
Hagan said Wednesday that police recovered a steak knife.
Each man is charged with Class A felony elevated aggravated assault, robbery, aggravated criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
Hagan declined to release any information about the robbery charges.
Bail for each man was set at $50,000. They were taken to Cumberland County Jail pending July 19 appearances in Portland Unified Criminal Court.
