AUGUSTA, Maine — A Livermore man accused of breaking into a Pike Street home in March, assaulting a homeowner with a cast iron frying pan and robbing him of cash, jewelry, checks and other property was indicted Thursday by the Kennebec County grand jury.
Kristopher Michael Russ, 34, was indicted on one count each of robbery, elevated aggravated assault, burglary, forgery and criminal mischief. Russ also was indicted on two counts each of theft by unauthorized taking and violation of condition of release.
An arraignment date has not been set.
Russ remained Friday at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta, according to information posted on the jail’s website.
On March 14, an elderly Augusta man returned home to find Russ inside, according to a previously published report. Russ allegedly struck the man several time with a cast iron frying pan.
Russ then fled with less than $1,000 worth of property, the indictment said. The day of the burglary, Russ allegedly tried to forge the victim’s signature on a stolen check
If convicted, Russ faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000 on the most serious charges of robbery and elevated aggravated assault. He also could be ordered to pay restitution.
