The family and friends of Angel Torres, a York County man who went missing in 1999 at the age of 21, are increasing the reward for new information about his case, the Portland Press Herald first reported Thursday.
Torres’ mother, Ramona Torres, told the newspaper the reward for clues that lead to finding the man is being raised to $15,000. According to the Maine State Police, the reward was previously $10,000.
Torres was last seen at a Biddeford convenience store around 2 a.m. on May 21, 1999, according to multiple media reports.
The police and Torres’ family suspect foul play in the case, but no body or crime scene has ever been found.
“We’re hoping this makes someone talk,” Ramona Torres told the Press Herald Thursday. “We’re hoping the person who killed my son, or knows who killed my son, can bring themselves peace.”
