GLENBURN – Brent J. Cates, 50, died May 21, 2016 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1966 in Bangor a son of Michael W. and Sarah S. (Rand) Cates.
Brent loved the outdoors and many memories were created on various hunting trips, ice fishing trips, four wheeling and jeep escapades, mud runs, times at the camp on Spec Pond, or the infamous moments at hunting camp. Always a tinkerer, he kept his Jeeps and Mud run trucks in working order. He looked forward to the annual family get together in Old Orchard Beach. Brent was a machinist at GE for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laurie; son, Nicholas; his mother, Sarah Michaud and her husband Vic; brother, Scott Cates and his wife Laurie, and their children, Kristin and Nathan; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Michael W. Cates, and mother-in-law, Jean Durham.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life and honor Brent’s memory 5-7pm Wednesday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St., Old Town, ME.
