LIMINGTON, Maine — A woman was recovering at the hospital Thursday after pulling her child from her burning house. The home went up in flames in Limington around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The house was destroyed after Wednesday’s fire, but the fire chief says remarkably, everyone got out okay. The chief says a mom got burns on her arms saving her child. He called the woman a hero.
“I think it’s remarkable she got out of there okay,” Limington Fire Chief Michael Hartford said.
Chief Hartford says when they got to the house on Doles Ridge Road flames were pouring out of the top of the house.
He says he immediately called for help and five other towns rushed to the scene.
According to the Chief Hartford, the mother is recovering from burns at Maine Medical Center. He says even though the house is a total loss, they’re lucky this wasn’t much worse.
“All the area communities pitched in to try to get this thing taken care of and it could’ve been a lot worse than what it was but not bad, everybody survived,” Chief Hartford said.
The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office and Chief Hartford will be on scene Thursday, finding out the cause and putting out hot spots that pop up.
