NORWAY, Maine — The Norway Police Department had a special visitor Friday morning.

Game Warden Norm Lewis rescued a little fawn on Route 2 in Hanover after the animal was struck by a car.

Norway police contacted Katrina Cartsensen of Cartsensen’s Keep of Otisfield, a local caretaker registered with Maine State Wildlife Rehabilitation.

Cartsensen and Lewis met at the Norway Police Department to transfer the baby deer.

Police said the fawn appeared alert and would be cared for until it is rehabilitated enough to be released back into the wild.
