BANGOR, Maine — With summer and the bustling outdoor activity that comes with it fast approaching, city police are issuing a reminder to assure your car does not get burglarized.
“Leaving valuables in the vehicle is never a good idea,” Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton wrote in a post on the department’s Facebook page Tuesday. “If it is easily seen and of high value to the thieving little dolts, they will break your window. Added expense and annoying ending to the loss of your stuff.”
Cotton also noted that a car was broken into last week and a handgun stolen. The weapon subsequently was discovered in another vehicle that had been burglarized.
No charges have been filed in connection with that case, according to the post.
Cotton is urging the public to keep vehicle doors locked and valuables concealed. Anybody who has their car burglarized is urged to contact police immediately.
