BRUNSWICK, Maine — A West Bath woman was arrested Monday afternoon on Bath Road after police say she was driving while under the influence of alcohol with her two children in the vehicle.
Courtney Ann Clifford, 38, was charged with operating under the influence with one prior conviction and endangering the welfare of a child.
She was pulled over by police just after 3:30 p.m. after an officer said the sport utility vehicle she was driving veered into oncoming traffic, nearly hitting his cruiser, Brunswick Police Sgt. Paul Hansen said Tuesday.
Clifford’s two children, ages 6 and 9 years old, were buckled securely into the back seat of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, according to Hansen.
Clifford was released on $1,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on July 19.
The children were released to a family member, Hansen said.
