BANGOR, Maine — A crash on Main Street near Interstate 395 tied up traffic late Saturday morning.

Bangor police Lt. Paul Kenison said Saturday afternoon that no one was injured when a pickup truck carrying scrap metal was “T-boned” at the intersection by another vehicle, rolled over and spilled the metal all over the road.

The pickup truck, driven by Carroll Tash, 68, of Lincoln, ran the red light on Main Street by the I-395 westbound offramp, according to Bangor police Sgt. Kevin MacLaren. Tash was heading north toward Hollywood Casino as a Toyota SUV driven by Ellen Arey, 52, of Brewer was making a left turn on a green light from the offramp.

Arey’s vehicle struck Tash in the middle of the passenger side, causing the truck to roll over and spill its load of scrap metal into the street, said MacLaren.

Tash and his passenger, Susan Raymond, 54, were both unhurt and able to exit the vehicle with the help of bystanders. Arey was also uninjured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damage.

Main Street remained open as the crash was cleared, though at least one lane closed for a period.
