PORTLAND, Maine — An Alfred man who pleaded guilty in January to a charge of possession of child pornography was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to 10 years in federal prison.
Kevin Millette, 44, also was sentenced to seven years of supervised release and ordered to pay $39,000 in restitution for counseling to 13 different victims.
Once he is released, Millette will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Millette had been held without bail since his arrest on Nov. 18, 2015.
By pleading guilty, Millette admitted having child pornography on three cellphones and a memory card seized at his home in November 2015.
Millette faced between 10 and 20 years behind bars because of a prior state conviction on possession of child pornography. Investigators found child pornography on three cellphones, including one that was in the process of downloading child pornography, at his home when the search warrant was served.
Thousands of digital images of child pornography were found, according to the prosecution version of events to which he pleaded guilty.
Millette faced between 10 and 20 years behind bars because of a prior conviction in state court court for child pornography possession.
The case was investigated by the Maine State Police computer crimes and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
