Broncos’ Talib was intoxicated when shot

Cornerback Aqib Talib of the Denver Broncos was released from the hospital Monday after being shot in the lower right led Sunday morning in Dallas.

Talib said he was at a park and intoxicated when the shooting occurred, local ABC-affiliate WFAA reported on Monday, despite earlier reports stating the incident took place during a fight at a strip club.

“Everything was a blur and I was too intoxicated to remember what happened,” Talib told police, according to WFAA’s Rebecca Lopez.

Talib was treated for the gunshot wound at nearby Medical City Dallas Hospital, per WFAA. Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said the injury was minor and required stitches and minor medical cleanup. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The eight-year veteran is entering his third season with Denver, totaling 97 tackles (15 assists) and four interceptions in 30 games with the team.

Curry says no to Olympics, will rest knee

Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry will not play in the 2016 Rio Olympics to let his right knee heal.

Curry told USA Basketball that he will skip the Olympics this summer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“It’s an incredible honor to represent your country and wear ‘USA’ on your chest, but my primary basketball-related objective this summer needs to focus on my body and getting ready for the 2016-17 NBA season,” he said.

Curry, the reigning two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, has missed four games during the Warriors’ current postseason run because of a sprained right knee.

Curry sprained his right MCL in Game 4 of the first-round series against the Houston Rockets. Curry also sprained his right ankle in Game 1 of the first round and bruised his right elbow in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals.
