LISBON, Maine — A Portland man was in “extremely critical condition” at Central Maine Medical Center on Monday morning after an unidentified SUV struck his motorcycle on Lisbon Street Saturday night and fled the scene.

Jeffrey Sickel, 28, was ejected from his motorcycle and found unresponsive with injuries to the face and back of his head, Lisbon police Chief David Brooks said Monday.

Witnesses reported that Sickel was traveling east on Route 196, also known as Lisbon Street, at about 10:30 p.m., when a dark-colored SUV turned left from Memorial Street directly into the motorcycle but did not stop, according to Brooks.

Maine State Police troopers and local police reconstructed the crash, and the investigation is ongoing, he said.

“At this point, that’s all we have,” Brooks said, although he added, “We may be continuing this investigation into another category shortly.”
