BOON ISLAND, Maine — Two people and a dog were rescued Sunday afternoon aboard a 26-foot boat near Boon Island, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Officials had received a call for help from the Blue Gold’s crew around 11 a.m., stating they were disabled and taking on water. A Station Portsmouth Harbor lifeboat crew was on patrol nearby and arrived on scene at 11:45.

Two crew members quickly boarded the stalled boat with a damage control kit and the boat’s bilge pumps were able to keep up with the flooding.

The Blue Gold was towed safely to York Harbor.
