PARIS, Maine — Four people were arrested Tuesday night in Oxford County for their roles in heroin trafficking throughout the county, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Jacolby Morrison, 18, of Norway and Jonathan Keefe, 27, of Wakefield, Massachusetts, were arrested and charged with aggravated heroin trafficking, MDEA Cmdr. Scott Pelletier said.

Laurie Jones, 52, and Jared Jones, 22, both of Norway, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of heroin, Pelletier said.

A search warrant had been conducted around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a High Street residence belonging to Jones. The investigation began in part following the heroin-related overdose death of an 18-year-old woman in Norway in September of 2015.

Pelletier said drug agents were able to make undercover purchases of heroin from Morrison earlier this year. Morrison was arrested on a heroin trafficking charge and was out on bail on that count at the time of Tuesday night’s bust.

Pelletier said Morrison and Keefe routinely traveled to Massachusetts to purchase heroin intended for distribution in Maine, and 80 grams of heroin were found at the residence, along with scales, packaging materials and $1,600 in suspected drug money. The seized drugs are valued at $12,000.

All four were taken to the Oxford County Jail. No bail was allowed for Morrison. Bail for Keefe was set at $25,000, and Laurie and Jared Jones’ bail was set at $500.

The investigation into this case and into the source of the heroin related to the overdose death last fall is ongoing.
