PORTLAND, Maine — A man with a lengthy criminal history is scheduled to be released from jail Friday, and police consider him to be a high risk to reoffend.
Steven Ricci, 52, who has a history that includes indecent conduct, assault, stalking and violating his bail conditions, will remain on probation and be closely supervised, a statement from Portland police said.
Due to Ricci’s high risk to reoffend, police are alerting the public to his being released, the statement said.
Ricci, who has a disability that causes him to walk with a distinctive gait, is required to wear a GPS monitoring device at all times and has a curfew of 8:30 p.m.-6 a.m.
Ricci’s most recent brush with the law came in December 2015 when he was booked on two counts of felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon after making threats toward a behavioral health coordinator from Portland police, along with a mental health liaison.
He subsequently then used a knife used in the alleged threat to cut off his GPS tracking monitor.
Ricci had been released from prison in November 2015 after serving a two-year sentence. His criminal history dates back to the 1990s.
