PITTSFIELD, Maine — A man from Levant died early Saturday morning when his pickup truck hydroplaned off Interstate 95 and struck a tree, according to Maine State Police.
Kelcin Dullas, 19, died on impact, Trooper Rick Moody said Saturday afternoon.
Dullas was traveling south at about 1:15 a.m. when his 2005 Chevrolet Colorado left the highway and went onto the median, he said.
The tires on Dullas’ truck were balding, and he was driving too fast for the wet conditions, the trooper said. In addition, the inspection sticker on the truck had expired.
The cause of the crash was a combination of the lack of tread on his tires and his speed, given the weather conditions, Moody said.
