HOULTON, Maine — Police in Houlton are asking for the public’s help to determine who vandalized the property of one of the better landscaped homes in the community.

The home of Kevin and Lisa Duff, located at the corner of Highland Avenue and Washburn Street, features elaborate flower beds and flower boxes, as well as festive Halloween and Christmas decorations.

Houlton police Chief Joe McKenna said vandals ripped up some of the brickwork paving and tore some of the flowers out of the ground sometime late July 2 or early July 3. They also overturned some of the heavier containers of flowers and tossed them onto the front lawn.

Once word of the damage spread in the community, friends helped the Duffs repair as much damage as possible, the chief said.

McKenna said his department is pursuing leads in the case and looking to charge the perpetrators with criminal mischief.
