ROCKPORT, Maine — Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne is asking residents to call when they see anything suspicious, after a series of car and home burglaries Tuesday night.

Gagne said the department received reports Wednesday of five motor vehicles and one home being burglarized. The break-ins occurred on Mistic Avenue, Main Street and Camden Street, Gagne said.

Money reportedly was stolen from one vehicle.

One Rockport homeowner posted on Facebook that her home had been entered and the door left open, allowing her four cats to get out. The cats stayed nearby and were brought in Wednesday morning, the homeowner reported.

Gagne reminded residents to lock their vehicles and homes and not to leave valuables in vehicles.

He said that calling police when someone sees something suspicious will make it easier to catch suspects.
