The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of the suspect in an assault and burglary on Hinks Road in Jefferson on July 1.

The suspect has been described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with light-colored facial hair, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a dark blue, zip-up hoodie and possibly Nike shoes.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Scott Hayden at 882-7332.

The man burglarized a garage and assaulted a 20-year-old woman.

The woman was home alone with her dog when she heard a noise in the attached garage. She went into the garage and found a man “rummaging through property,” according to a previous news release from the sheriff’s office.

She confronted the man, and the man “swung an object at her, cutting her abdomen and causing her to fall, striking her head,” Lt. Michael Murphy said in the release. “The woman’s dog then entered the garage and chased the man away.”

The man fled through the woods to a car on Hinks Road.

Numerous officers from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police responded and to look for the suspect “or suspects,” according to the press release. LCSO detectives conducted a neighborhood canvas.

The woman was taken by ambulance to LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.

The house is for sale, the garage doors were open and there were no cars in the driveway at the time of the burglary.
