ORRINGTON, Maine — The Houlton all-stars captured the District 3 Little League baseball title for ages 11-12 Friday with a 13-1 victory over Brewer/Orrington.
It’s Houlton’s first District 3 championship since 1976 and the all-stars advanced to the state tourney and will return to Orrington next weekend for the opening round.
The Houlton all-stars will play their first game at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 24 against the winner of a Saturday contest between the District 2 champ and the District 4 champ.
Members of the Houlton team include Collin Moody, Jed Gilpatrick, Cody Johnston, Caleb Tuttle, Logan Tapley, Kurtis Reynolds, Silas Graham, Braden Dow, Garrett Harvey, Brock Thompson, Haven Hanning, Nolan Hodgkins. The coaches are Montie Graham, Chad Thompson and P.J. Harvey.
RBI singles by Graham, Harvey, Kurtis Reynolds and Brock Thompson gave Houlton the 4-0 lead.
Brewer responded with its only run in the bottom of the first when Gavin Carr singled and eventually scored on Nick Chaffe’s RBI single.
Houlton added a run in the fourth on Collin Moody’s sacrifice fly.
The Houlton stars then broken open the game in the fifth, highlighted by RBI singles by Graham, Harvey and a two-run home run by Reynolds.
Reynolds finished with the home run and two singles while Moody, Graham and Thompson each chipped in with two singles and two RBIs each.
Harvey was also the winning pitcher as he allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out six.
Cameron Lagassie contributed a single for Brewer/Orrington.

Hampden 15, Brewer 12
At Hampden on Thursday, the RH Foster River Dogs and Brewer Falcons combined for 27 runs, with the River Dogs prevailing after rallying for five runs in the eighth inning to take the win.
Tyler Beaton, Connor Farmer, Nick Guerrette and Dinsmore combined for eight hits and eight RBIs, highlighted by a Farmer grand slam, to lead Hampden. Emery Dinsmore got the win in relief for Hampden.
Garrett Hamlin and Matt Pushard each homered for Brewer. Hamlin tallied five hits on the day, while Pushard and Kobe Rogerson each had three.

Motor City 9, Acadians 7
At Blue Hill on Thursday night, Motor City connected for 11 hits and received a stellar pitching performance from right-hander Ethan Stoddard to earn the victory.
Stoddard gave up just five hits over 7 1/3 innings and struck out four. He aided his own cause in the third inning with a two-run home run over the left-field fence and also added two singles and scored three runs.
DJ Monteith came into relief and weathered a late charge by the Acadians to earn the save. Parker Walker and Tyler Young contributed two singles apiece and Billy Phillips and Sam Southwick each doubled.
The Acadians were led by Connor McGuire, who singled and scored twice, and Stefan Simmons, who notched two singles.
Brewer splits two
The Brewer Falcons were on the winning and losing end of the same score in games this week as they came back for a 9-5 victory over the Trenton Acadians on Wednesday at Heddericg Field in Brewer after dropping a 9-5 decision to Post 51 at Lawrence High in Fairfield on Tuesday.
At Brewer, Alex Maxsimic recorded three singles, a double, two RBIs and a run to lead Brewer by the Acadians. Cam Harvey and Logan Rogerson each chipped in with two singles while Kobe Rogerson and Garrett Hamlin each added an RBI double.
Maxsimic was also the winning pitcher as he scattered eight hits over seven innings while striking out six.
Jacob Keenan notched four singles and a run for the Acadians while Seth Clark and Beckett Slayton each singled twice with Clark driving in a run.
At Fairfield, Jonathan Wilkie singled twice and drove in three runs to lead Post 51. Connor Garland and Tyler Lewis each chipped in with two singles with Garland adding two RBIs. Danny Pooler notched the win on the mound.
Matt Pushard sparked Brewer with a home run, double, single and three RBIs. Maxsimic added three singles and an RBI while Logan Rogerson, Kobe Rogerson and Tyler Hersey each chipped in with two singles.

At Orono on Wednesday, Andrew Hillier recorded three hits and drove in five runs to lead the Coffee News Comrades of Bangor by Motor City.
Peter Kemble chipped in with four hits and two RBIs for Coffee News while Ryan Brookings added three hits and drove in two runs. Jesse Colford contributed with three hits and an RBI.
Austin Sheehan recorded three hits for Motor City and Ethan Stoddard had two.
