PORTLAND, Maine — A man from The Bronx is facing a heroin charge after drug agents and Portland police arrested him on Thursday, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Bobby Forte, 25, is facing an aggravated heroin trafficking charge, a Class A crime, and being a fugitive from justice out of New York, according to a statement from the MDEA.

Cumberland County drug agents have been investigating the sale of heroin in the Portland area by a New York-based group over the last three months, the statement said.

Several undercover purchases of the drug were made over the course of the investigation.

Forte was arrested at 9 a.m. Thursday. He is on federal probation out of New York on weapons charges, the statement said.

Approximately 18 grams of heroin valued at $3,000 were seized from Forte, who is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.
