BANGOR, Maine — Jay Lauter and Gavin Partridge combined on a three-hit shutout in five innings to lead the Bronco-Hermon all-stars by Coastal 10-0 to capture the Junior League baseball state title Sunday at Mansfield Stadium.
Bronco-Hermon, which features players from Hampden and Hermon, advanced to the Northeast Regional tourney in Freehold, N.J., and will play its first game at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5 against the Rhode Island champs.
Junior League is for players ages 12-14.
Lauter and Partridge combined for just two walks and struck out five and their teammates broke open the game early with a six-run first inning en route to the 10-run rule victory. Bronco-Hermon’s first seven batters in the first reached base safely.
Kergan Perkins paced Bronco-Hermon (3-0) with a triple and RBI single. Mychal Beaulieu chipped in with two singles and and three RBIs while River Mullen added two singles and an RBI.
Parker Allen, Kolbe Hardy and Memphis Parker each singled for Coastal of Blue Hill (2-2).
Coastal advanced to the final after beating Standish 14-4 after scoring five runs in the four and five more in the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Austin Snow recorded a double, single and two RBIs to lead Coastal while Owen Vinall added two singles and two RBIs. Parker chipped in with two singles.
Colby Sanborn notched two singles and drove in a run for Standish (0-3).
On Saturday, Bronco-Hermon picked up two wins in the tourney’s first day, beating Coastal 16-2 and then defeating Standish 17-0 in the third game after Coastal had stopped Standish 9-4 in the second game.
In the opener, Bronco-Hermon’s Jackson Thayer was reached for just two unearned runs while giving up a hit and striking out six in the five-inning 10-run rule contest.
Bronco-Hermon scored nine runs in the second to break the game open as it sent 14 batters to the plate.
Perkins and Keith Pomeroy each singled twice and drove in two runs to spark Bronco-Hermon. Ethan Quimby chipped in with a two-run double and sacrifice fly while Mullen hit a double.
Snow singled for Coastal.
In the second game, Parker came on to pitch five solid innings to help Coastal earn the win. Parker allowed two runs on four hits while striking out six. He retired the final nine batters he faced.
Tanner Ashley recorded a double, single and four RBIs to lead Coastal.
Sanborn singled twice for Standish.
In the day’s final game, Bronco-Hermon’s Wyatt Harriman pitched a five-inning no-hitter in a game shortened due to the 10-run rule. Harriman faced one hitter over the minimum, walking two and striking out four.
Harriman received plenty of offensive support with a three-run double by Perkins and two singles and two singles and two RBIs from Pomeroy. Sam Economy chipped in with an RBI double and Harriman aided his cause with two singles and three RBIs.

State baseball, 11-12
At Orrington, Biddeford beat Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 7-4 and Scarborough defeated Lewiston 6-2 in the opening games of the state championship tourney for ages 11-12 Saturday.
On Sunday, Biddeford beat Houlton 6-1 and Scarborough rolled by Ellsworth 18-1.
Elimination-round games will be played on Monday when Medomak will take on Ellsworth at 3 p.m. and Lewiston will play Houlton at 6 p.m.
Biddeford and Scarborough will battle in a winners bracket game at 3 p.m. Tuesday followed by a 6 p.m. contest between the winners of Monday’s two games.
On Saturday, Ashton Crowell cranked a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning to lead Biddeford by Medomak. He also doubled in the game while Mike Alvarez and Will Harriman each added a single.
Ethan Reed singled twice to lead Medomak.
In the second game, Sam Clark hit two home runs and Nic Frink added one to help Scarborough advance.
Peter O’Brian chipped in with a single for Scarborough.
Aiden Cox and Dale Morin each hit a home run for Lewiston and Damon Bossie singled.
