BIDDEFORD, Maine — One of the most famous trophies in all of sports will be on display at the Biddeford Ice Arena early next month and at Colby College in Waterville on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman and Biddeford native Brian Dumoulin will bring the Stanley Cup to his hometown on Tuesday, Aug. 9, according to a Tweet posted by WGME-TV on Friday afternoon.

The festivities include a Parade of the Cup from Biddeford High School, Dumoulin’s alma mater, which will start at 10:15 a.m., that will end up at the Ice Arena.

The Stanley Cup will be available for photographs and public viewing at the Biddeford Ice Arena from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The 24-year-old Dumoulin became the first Maine-born NHL player to have his name on the famous trophy, which dates back to 1892. Dumoulin had two goals and six assists during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dumoulin’s Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks in six games to claim the championship. Dumoulin wound up scoring Pittsburgh’s first goal in the decisive game.

On Tuesday, the Cup will be on display at Colby College’s Alfond Rink from 1 to 3 p.m., according to a colby.edu report. The event is free and open to the public and fans can take photos of the cup.

Alfond Rink is part of the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.

Waterville native Andy Saucier is bringing the Cup to the rink. He is the Penguins video coach.

Each player, coach or any other member of team personnel is allotted one day with the Stanley Cup over the course of 100 off-season days.

Former University of Maine hockey players Dustin Penner (Anaheim Ducks, 2007, Los Angeles Kings, 2012) and Scott Darling (Chicago Blackhawks, 2015) each have their names on the Stanley Cup.

Penner is a native of Manitoba and Darling is from Lemont, Illinois.
