BATH, Maine — For the second time in less than a week, a Bath woman was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with operating under the influence — this time after allegedly driving the wrong way on a divided section of Route 1.

Deborah Bailey, 43, also was charged with violation of condition of release, according to Bath police Lt. Robert Savary.

At about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to the southbound lanes of Route 1, also known as Leeman Highway, where a 2006 Hyundai Sonata allegedly driven by Bailey had stopped after traveling north for an undetermined distance, Savary said.

“Luckily it was just past 3 [a.m.], and there weren’t many people on the road,” Savary said.

Bailey allegedly failed a field sobriety test, and after being taken to the Bath police station, was allegedly found to have a 0.17 percent blood alcohol count. The legal limit in Maine is 0.08 for operating a vehicle.

Bailey also had been arrested and charged with OUI just before 6 p.m. July 22 in Brunswick, Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said.

She was released on bail conditions prohibiting the consumption of alcohol, according to Savary.

After the arrest in Bath, she was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail and released on $500 unsecured bail. Bailey is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on Sept. 20 to face both charges.
