EDDINGTON, Maine — More than 1,600 Emera Maine customers lost service Thursday morning because of a vehicle crash, the utility reported.

Approximately 1,659 customers lost power shortly after 8 a.m., when a pole was damaged by a motor vehicle crash, according to the utility’s statement.

Customers in Amherst, Bradley, Clifton, Dedham, Eddington, Holden and Mariaville were without service.

The crash occurred in Eddington, and no serious injuries were reported, according to a dispatcher at Penobscot Regional Communications Center.

Service had been restored by Thursday afternoon.
