FREEHOLD, New Jersey — The New Jersey and New York state champions each recorded victories over Bronco-Hermon over the weekend to eliminate the Maine champ from the Junior League Eastern Regional baseball tourney.
East Windsor PAL Little League of New Jersey beat Bronco-Hermon 5-1 on Saturday and Throgs Neck LL of New York defeated Bronco-Hermon 12-1 on Sunday in five innings in a 10-run rule game.
On Saturday, NJ’s Ben Simon held Bronco-Hermon to two hits, a run and three walks while striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings to earn the win.
Ethan Quimby and Mychal Beaulieu each had a single for Bronco-Hermon.
Collin DeTrolio sparked the NJ offense with a double, single and two RBIs.
On Sunday, NY’s Aiden Daley held Bronco-Hermon to three hits and a run in four innings en route to the victory.
Mikey Hangan backed up his pitcher with a double, single and two RBIs.
Sam Economy, Quimby and Keith Pomeroy each had a single for Bronco-Hermon.
The winner of the Eastern Regional advances to the Junior League World Series on Aug. 14-21 in Taylor, Michigan. Junior League is for players ages 12-14.
