PORTLAND, Maine — If you take a ride on the Downeaster this weekend, you might be seeing your trip through a new perspective.
Amtrak is bringing a decades-old dome car to Maine for the first time.
Until Sept. 18, Amtrak’s dome car will travel from Boston to Brunswick on the Downeaster, a first for New England.
For passengers who get to sit in Amtrak’s dome car, day or night, they’re going to get a 360 degree view of Maine’s beautiful scenery.
Dating back to mid-1950s, it’s like taking a walk back in time to the heyday of rail, diving riders a space to just take it all in.
With the seats available to anyone riding the Downeaster, officials hope it encourages more people to ride.
