ROCKLAND, Maine — Mayor Louise MacLellan-Ruf announced Monday she would not seek re-election.
MacLellan-Ruf is in the final year of her first three-year term. She was elected in November 2013 and in November 2015 was elected mayor by her councilor peers. Her council and mayor terms end in November.
She did not detail her reasons for the decision in an email issued Monday.
The other incumbent whose term expires in November — Councilor Larry Pritchett — has not announced his intentions. Pritchett is completing the final year of his second term.
Thus far, two people have taken out nomination papers for the two seats that are open — former Harbor Master Ed Glaser and Judith Lawson of Holmes Street.
On the school board side of the municipal election, incumbent Regional School Unit 13 board Chairman Steve Roberts took out papers last week for re-election.
There are three RSU 13 seats that will be on the Rockland ballot. Incumbent Donald Robishaw Jr. is not seeking re-election, and incumbent Jessie Butler is resigning effective Aug. 31 because he is moving to South Thomaston.
