BRUNSWICK, Maine — A basement fire damaged a home on Lori Drive on Thursday morning, a fire official said.

Working smoke detectors enabled the residents to get out without injury, Brunswick Deputy Chief Don Koslosky said.

Crews from four communities were called to the duplex home around 7:15 a.m., and were able to quickly knock the fire down.

Koslosky said one side of the house suffered heavy smoke damage but the residence is repairable.

The family is staying elsewhere while the home is being repaired, he added.

No foul play is suspected in the fire, which remains under investigation. Crews from Brunswick, Topsham, West Bath and Bath responded.
