OWLS HEAD, Maine — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons who broke into Owls Head Central School and stole money earned by the student council.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office went to the school shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday following a report by an employee that the school had been broken into overnight. The kitchen door had been pried open, and rooms were gone through, Knox County Chief Deputy Tim Carroll said.
In one of the classrooms, money raised by the student council was reported missing from a drawer. The amount of money taken was not released.
Deputy Paul Pinkham and Detective Don Murray gathered evidence and are continuing the investigation. The chief deputy said anyone who witnessed anything suspicious around the school Wednesday night or has information to call the sheriff’s office at 594-0677.
