ROCKLAND, Maine — A Warren man was sentenced Thursday to 90 days in jail for illegally filing for unemployment benefits in 2008.
Kyle MacDougall, 37, was given the sentence in Knox County Unified Court for theft by deception. He has already repaid $9,374 in unemployment benefits that he received after providing false information to the Maine Department of Labor in March through August 2008.
The criminal charge was not filed in court until July 2013. MacDougall pleaded guilty the following June as part of a deferred disposition, in which he would be sentenced to 90 days if he refrained from further criminal conduct for two years.
MacDougall will not have to begin his jail sentence until Dec. 1.
