BANGOR, Maine — Coast guard officials are advising boaters throughout the region to use caution as the remains of Hurricane Hermine churn up the East Coast.
While the National Weather Service isn’t forecasting any significant rain for Maine, forecasters at the Caribou forecast center are advising of moderate rip currents off the Downeast coast from Saturday through Thursday.
The storm is expected to impact southern New England Sunday into Tuesday with heavy rain and strong winds.
Mariners should avoid any unnecessary trips to sea, have a sufficient supply of life jackets and communication devices, label watercraft and carry identification and toavoid rip currents.
In addition, safety equipment should be ready in event of an emergency.
