BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police on Thursday arrested a second person in connection with Tuesday’s robbery at Ocean State Job Lots.
Caleb Hathaway, 20, was charged with hindering apprehension, a Class B felony crime, after allegedly aiding and concealing Jacob Drapeau from police during the investigation into the robbery.
Drapeau, 24, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon when he was found to have been hiding in Hathaway’s apartment on Sanford Street, Cotton said.
“It should be noted that by statute, anyone that hinders apprehension or prosecution of a suspect in a crime can be charged with a crime one class lower than the original crime the suspect is found to have committed,” Cotton said.
Robbery is a Class A crime punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
Hathaway was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
Both men remained at Penobscot County Jail on Thursday night, a jail official confirmed.
