BANGOR, Maine — A Winterport man pleaded guilty Friday at the Penobscot Judicial Center to unlawful sexual contact involving a child under the age of 14.

William Vandorn, 23, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but seven years suspended in a plea agreement with the Penobscot County district attorney’s office.

In addition to prison time, Superior Court Justice Ann Murray sentenced Vandorn to four years of probation. He also will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

He did not address the judge.

The sexual contact took place in 2014 in Hampden when the victim was 13 years old, Deputy District Attorney Alice Clifford told the judge.

Murray also revoked Vandorn’s probation on a domestic violence assault conviction out of Waldo County. He was sentenced to a year in prison to be served concurrently with the sentence on the sex charge.

Vandorn has been held at the Penobscot County Jail since his arrest about 18 months ago, his attorney, Robert Van Hor of Ellsworth, told the judge.

Vandorn faced up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000 on the charge.
