A University of Maine men’s basketball assistant coach is leaving coach Bob Walsh’s staff.
Zak Boisvert, who has been an assistant with Walsh since his arrival in Orono two years ago, is leaving UMaine to take an assistant coaching position at Army.
The news was first reported by WVII-TV and has been confirmed by a UMaine source who did not wish to be identified because the move has not been announced.
Boisvert, a native of Portland, came to UMaine with three years of college coaching experience under his belt after stints at Iona University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The Black Bears have compiled an 11-49 record in Walsh’s first two seasons. Four players have transferred to other programs since the end of the 2015-2016 season.

UMaine hires hockey coaches
UMaine women’s ice hockey coach Richard Reichenbach has added two assistants to his staff, including a former player.
Brooklyn Langlois, a 2016 graduate of UMaine, along with former Mercyhurst University assistant Mike O’Grady, will join Reichenbach behind the Black Bears’ bench this winter.
Langlois, a defenseman who served as a captain her senior year, accumulated 26 points in 127 games.
O’Grady comes to UMaine from Mercyhurst, where his duties there included strength and conditioning, goaltender development, planning practices and video coaching.
O’Grady previously spent three years as an assistant at John Carroll University in Ohio. He also has donated his time to aid numerous youth hockey organizations by working with goaltenders, teaching skill development and power skating lessons.
Kendall Newell left UMaine last summer after two years to become the manager of female hockey in Alberta.
