A local tennis player has been chosen as the Northeastern Athletic Conference East Division Women’s Tennis Player of the Year.
Ashley Woodside, a Hampden native who plays for Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, has an unblemished record in singles matches in three seasons at the school.
Woodside was a two-time NEAC East Player of the Week this season after leading Colby-Sawyer to its fifth-straight undefeated season in conference play.
She joins Ashlyn Ramsay as the only two Colby-Sawyer players to win both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards in their careers.
Woodside will enter postseason play with a 5-0 record in conference singles matches this season.
Earlier this fall, she moved into 11th on the all-time career-wins list in school history with 78.
In her four seasons at Hampden Academy, Woodside was the Broncos’ top player in each season and won more than 60 matches at Hampden.
