The Winslow High School football team has shown no signs of slowing down after its loss to Madison/Carrabec two weeks ago.
The two-time defending state champion Black Raiders ran all over Oakes Field in Dover-Foxcroft on Friday night, cruising to a 48-7 Class C North victory over Foxcroft Academy.
Coach Mike Siviski’s Black Raiders improved to 5-1, and Foxcroft Academy fell to 3-3.
Winslow assumed control early and often in the first half, quickly erasing any Foxcroft Academy thoughts of an upset in taking a 34-0 halftime lead.
The Black Raiders wasted almost no time getting on the board, going 62 yards on four plays in a drive that culminated in Nathan St. Amand’s 15-yard touchdown scamper.
St. Amand would add a longer run early in the second quarter — this one covering 70 yards — as Winslow upped its lead to 21-0.
Later in the period, after the Ponies fumbled a punt at midfield, the Raiders methodically marched down half the field, and Ken Rickard ended it with a 1-yard plunge for a 27-0 Winslow lead.
After a Ponies punt, St. Amand would strike again, taking the punt back 57 yards for a touchdown.
It would be more of the same to open the second half, as Rickard scored his second touchdown of the night, and the extra point made it 41-0.
After a Ponies’ turnover, Patrick Hopkins got in on the act with a touchdown run for the Raiders.
Foxcroft Academy would finally get on the board on the ensuing kickoff, which Evan Chadbourne returned 65 yards for a touchdown.
That would complete the scoring.
