BANGOR, Maine — A woman who worked at the Charlotte White Center was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury.
Denise A. Inman, 43, of Old Town was indicted on one count each of unlawful sexual contact, a Class C crime, and attempted gross sexual assault, a Class D crime.
The incident allegedly took place on Feb. 14.
Inman is expected to be arraigned on Dec. 12 at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
The Charlotte White Center offers services to people with “intellectual disabilities,” according to court documents.
The case is being prosecuted by the Maine attorney general’s office because the Charlotte White Center is licensed and funded by the Department of Health and Human Services.
Inman appeared in court Aug. 11 on the charges but was not asked to enter pleas because she had not yet been indicted by the grand jury.
She remains free on personal recognizance bail.
If convicted, Inman faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 on the unlawful sexual contact. She faces up to a year in prison and fine of up to $2,000 on the other charge.
