LEICESTER, Massachusetts — Junior running back John Smith ran for 183 yards and three touchdowns as the Husson Eagles scored 38 unanswered points to beat Becker 45-14 on Saturday.
Husson of Bangor (7-1 overall, 5-0 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference) won its seventh straight contest.
Becker fell to 2-6 (1-4 ECFC).
After Smith opened the scoring with a 7-yard run, Becker took a 14-7 lead when Mitchell Driscoll threw touchdown passes of five and 14 yards to Michael Caban and DeJahn Dawkins, respectively.
But Cory Brandon threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Kadeem Edge to tie it 14 seconds into the second period and Smith gave Husson the lead for good with a 1-yard run 1:50 later.
Travis Tetreault’s 23-yard field goal and Smith’s 38-yard run extended the lead to 31-14 right before the intermission.
Brandon tossed a 29-yard pass to Edge early in the third quarter and Logan Steward’s 30-yard interception return 21 seconds later closed out the scoring.
Brandon completed 16 of 26 passes for 238 yards and Edge caught six passes for 158 yards including the two TDs. Deon Wiggins had four catches for 31 yards.
Charlie Meli, Rick Orio and Ellis Throckmorton had six tackles each to lead Husson.
Driscott completed 12 of 31 passes for 193 yards and two TDs. He was intercepted twice. Dawkins had four catches for 46 yards. Joseph Linnehan had a game-high 11 tackles for Becker.
WNE 48, MMA 25
At Springfield, Massachusetts, Anthony Service threw three touchdown passes, including two to Mohamed Camara, and Nick Connell ran for two more to lead undefeated Western New England past Maine Maritime Academy of Castine.
Western New England is now 8-0 overall, 5-0 in the NEFC. MMA (1-6, 0-5 NEFC) lost its fifth game in a row.
The Bears jumped out to a 21-0 lead as Service hooked up with Camara on a 5-yarder, Connell scored on a 2-yard run and Laron Gunderway caught a 10-yard pass from Service.
Spencer Baron returned a blocked punt 14 yards for a Mariner TD but Dante Aitken returned the ensuing kickoff 93 yards for a TD.
MMA quarterback Corey Creeger scampered 34 yards to pull MMA within 27-13 with 12 seconds left in the first period but WNE answered 2:11 later when Service threw an 11-yard pass to Camara.
Connell ran four yards for a third-quarter score and Peter Hoff expanded the lead to 48-13 with a 12-yard run.
MMA twins Joshua Doolan and Jacob Doolan scored on runs of six and 20 yards, respectively, in the fourth quarter.
Service completed 9 of 17 passes for 130 yards and Connell rushed for 76 yards on 15 carries. Camara caught three passes for 29 yards and the two TDs. Sam Olsson had 11 tackles and Kurtis Jolicoeur made 10 to pace the Golden Bear defense.
James Ferrar had a game-high 136 yards rushing on 31 attempts for MMA and Jacob Doolan had 108 more on nine carries. Creeger gained 51 yards on nine attempts.
John Bennett had a game-high 12 tackles for the Mariners and Robert Bradley Jr. was in on 10 tackles.

Husson 1, MMA 0
At Boucher Field in Bangor, Miguel Caballero converted a Shubham Bodke through ball with 26:58 left in regulation to send fourth seed Husson into Tuesday’s 7 p.m. semifinal against top seed Thomas College in Waterville.
Cody Gross made one save for Husson, which is now 9-6-2.
Fifth seed MMA, which received four saves from Kyle Townsend, finished up at 6-11-1.
Field hockey
Maine 4, Vermont 1
At Burlington, Vermont, on Sunday, Brianna Ricker scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season as Maine concluded its regular season with a victory over Vermont.
Ricker scored just 29 seconds after Isabella Sericolo had opened the scoring for Vermont and Sydney Veljacic broke the tie 1:53 later.
Riley Field and Ricker added second-half goals for Maine, which is 13-6 overall and 6-2 in America East heading into an AE quarterfinal game against the University of California on Friday at 3 p.m. in Stockton, California.
Casey Crowley had two assists and Veljacic and Libby Riedl had one each while Emily Corbett made four saves.
Emily Snowden had nine stops for Vermont, which wound up 7-12 and 0-8, respectively.
UM-Farmington 1, Husson 0 (2OT)
At Farmington on Sunday, Andrea Stemm’s goal off a Lee-Anne Greenleaf pass 4:15 into the second overtime to give the Beavers the North Atlantic Conference East championship.
Patty Smith made seven saves on 12 shots for UMF and Anne Marie Provencal turned aside 13 of 23 shots for Husson.
UMF is 12-4 while Husson wound up 8-7.
Women’s ice hockey
Vermont 3, Maine 2
At Alfond Arena in Orono on Sunday, Kourtney Menches’ goal 5:25 into the third period broke a 2-2 tie and led Vermont past Maine.
Second-period goals by Victoria Andreakos and Mackenzie MacNeil staked Vermont (3-4-1 overall, 2-1 in Hockey East) to a 2-0 lead but Brooke Stacey and Morgan Sakundiak tied it with goals 2:49 apart early in the third period.
Madison Litchfield made 27 saves for Vermont and Carly Jackson had 21 for Maine (2-8, 1-5).
