KENNEBUNK, Maine — A crash on the Maine Turnpike Friday left a young boy and a man are dead.

Earl Gray, 57, and Wyatt Frost, 5, were hit from behind by a box truck, which then landed on top of the vehicle in which they were traveling, according to Maine State Police. The crash happened as traffic was slowing down because of another crash a few miles down the road.

The district attorney’s office will review the investigation into the crash

Gray was a volunteer with York County Community Action, transporting children, seniors and folks with disabilities. He began his volunteer work there in 2006.

Barbara Crider, the executive director of the organization, said that “Earl was a very kind and generous man, who spent his time serving others in need. He was held in very high regard by our staff, his fellow volunteers, and the riders he transported.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and our hearts go out to the Frost and Gray families.”
