Responding to reports of a man with a gun in the road may have shot two people, Oxford police went to a home where a man had barricaded himself, according to the Sun Journal.
Lt. Michael Ward of the Oxford Police Department told the Sun Journal that police de-escalated the situation and the man put down his gun and surrendered peacefully.
Police searched the home and found no bodies or any sign that anyone had been shot. The man, who was not named and has not been charged with a crime, was taken into custody for psychological evaluation.
