Outlook: UMaine returns to the Division I wars after a 96-45 win over Division III UMaine-Presque Isle in its regular-season home opener last Saturday. UMaine remains without two of its three captains, with G Aaron Calixte sidelined for at least a month with a fracture in his foot and G-F Garet Beal’s future uncertain as the result of a preseason ankle injury. UMaine heads back on the road this weekend to face a second straight foe nicknamed the Blue Devils, this time against No. 4 Duke at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. CCSU has new leadership this year, with 15-year NBA veteran and former UConn first-team All-American Donyell Marshall the new head coach after Howie Dickenman’s retirement after last season. Marshall has brought in a six-player freshman class that includes his son Donyell Jr. The Blue Devils were picked to finish last in the 10-school Northeast Conference. CCSU already is 1-1 against America East competition with a season-opening 75-60 victory over Hartford on Nov. 11 and a 72-70 loss at Binghamton five nights later. The Blue Devils’ other losses have been to Seton Hall (82-58) and Penn (87-65).
