GORHAM, Maine — Police have identified the people involved in a serious head-on crash on Monday morning in Gorham.

Police said 45 year-old Joseph Piawlock was killed and three children were critically injured when their vehicle collided with a dump truck.

Police said Joseph Piawlock’s wife, 39-year-old Yvonne Piawlock, lost control of the SUV she was driving, and it slid in front of the dump truck.

The three girls in the back of the SUV are all in critical condition at Maine Medical Center, according to police. Yvonne Piawlock’s injuries aren’t serious, police added.

Gorham firefighters had to cut away parts of the SUV to get the passengers out of it.

According to police, the crash occurred just before 10:00 a.m.

The driver of the dump truck was shaken up but was not injured.
