FREEPORT, Maine — A 19-year-old Yarmouth man was arrested Monday evening after police say he tried to rob a Scarborough woman at an L.L. Bean parking lot earlier that afternoon.
Ryan Nason was charged with attempted robbery and assault and taken to Cumberland County Jail, according to Freeport Police Lt. Nate Goodman.
Police were called to the parking lot between Nathan Nye Street and Howard Place at about 4:30 p.m. and found the 61-year-old woman “shaken up” but not seriously injured.
Goodman said no weapon was used in the alleged assault.
A preliminary investigation allegedly led them to identify Nason, who was arrested just before 7 p.m. on Route 1 without incident “other than a bit of initial resistance,” Goodman said Wednesday.
Goodman said the district attorney’s office is reviewing the case, and additional charges may be filed against Nason or other people.
