A Maine man wanted in connection with the a Kansas homicide was arrested in California after he allegedly stabbed someone on an Amtrak train, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Robert Colson, 34, of Bucksport, Maine, faces a first-degree murder charge in connection to the shooting death of Matthew Schoshke of Tescott, Kansas, and he will be sent back to Kansas to face that charge.
Schoshke’s was discovered shot to death inside his Tescott home by a family member on Aug. 12. Schoshke’s Ford pickup was missing from the driveway. Police launched a search for the vehicle, but didn’t turn up anything until 10 days later, when they got a tip that the victim’s truck may have been spotted in Los Angeles, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Kansas investigators traveled to California, where the abandoned truck was located, gathered evidence and were able to identify a suspect — Colson. They issued a warrant for his arrest Friday.
They found him the next night. Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Colson allegedly stabbed a person aboard an Amtrak train in Martinez, California. Colson tried to escape the train, but he was apparently injured in the process and taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. He’ll be sent back to Kansas after his release from the hospital.
It’s unclear how Colson was injured, or how serious those injuries are.
