BEVERLY, Massachusetts — The Husson University football team sped out to a 28-0 lead Saturday and cruised from there to a 28-7 non-conference victory over Endicott College.

Coach Gabby Price’s Eagles improve to 3-1 and 7-4 in their last 11 non-conference outings while Endicott falls to 1-4.

Tailback John Smith led the Husson offense in becoming the first back in program history to rush for more than 300 yards in a game. He was also responsible for two touchdowns.

Cory Brandon put Husson on the board first by hooking up with D.J. Allen from seven yards out before Smith began to assert his will.

A 75-yard touchdown run by the senior runner put the Eagles up 14-0, and on their next drive, he found the end zone from 11 yards out to extend the lead.

Brandon and Allen would connect again from five yards out late in the first half to conclude Husson’s scoring.

Husson held a 409-233 edge in total yardage and Smith gained 301 yards on 39 carries in the first ever meeting between the programs.
