No students were injured Tuesday, when sun glare caused the driver of a box truck to rear end a stopped school bus in Waterville, according to police.

The incident occurred on Western Avenue around 8 a.m., when the driver of the box truck, Dawson Trask, 18, of Clinton, was blinded by sun glare and could not see the stopped school bus in front of him, police said.

The front end of the box truck was heavily damaged, and the windows on the back emergency exit of the school bus were broken, according to Waterville Deputy Police Chief Bill Bonney.

Trask suffered a laceration on his leg and was taken to the hospital.

The Waterville-area school bus, driven by Ann Lefebvre, 54, of Waterville, was carrying 13 students ages 5 to 9. Some of the children and Lefebvre complained of pain, but none suffered serious injury or were taken to the hospital.

The collision stopped traffic for about an hour while police handled the situation.
