A Bucksport school employee has resigned amid an ongoing investigation by police.
Superintendent James Boothby said a former staff member resigned after the district began investigating claims made against that individual. He declined to identify the former employee or say anything about what those claims were or when the investigation started.
Boothby did say that “when any type of situation like this arises,” school district leaders act immediately.
“I can say that nothing is more important to RSU 25 than protecting our children and maintaining appropriate boundaries,” Boothby said.
The person was employed by the school district for just over a year, according to the superintendent. He declined to say when the person resigned.
Bucksport Police Chief Sean Geagan confirmed Tuesday that there is an ongoing investigation involving a former school employee. Neither Boothby nor Geagan would confirm the person’s name or say how they were employed by the district.
Geaghan said he didn’t know how much longer that investigation would continue and that it’s too early to speculate whether charges might be filed.
