PORTLAND – A driver crashed into the gate of the Casco Bay Bridge on Thanksgiving day, and the Maine Department of Transportation caught the accident on video.
State officials just released the video, which shows the car’s driver heading toward the bridge gate while it was closing.
While other drivers slowed, this car’s driver didn’t, and ended up smashing into the gate.
The driver turned himself into police, and is not expected to face any charges.
Transportation officials estimated the impact caused about $10,000 in damage.
They are now working with the driver’s insurance company to pay for it.
